The Power of Proximity Summit is the cornerstone experience of For Oak Cliff’s Juneteenth Weekend—a one-of-a-kind gathering designed to bring together nonprofit leaders, Oak Cliff educators, parents, and community advocates to transform ideas into bold, place-based action.
Rooted in the wisdom, grit, and brilliance of South Oak Cliff, this first-ever summit explores how getting closer to the people, data, and lived experiences that matter most unlocks real power and real change in the Superblock.
We have a full day of powerful panels, inspiring speakers, and interactive breakout sessions - can't forget our Vendor Village packed with community resources and Wellness Lounge to take a breather.
Hear from Echoing Green CEO, Cheryl Dorsey, District Attorney John Cruzeot, and DISD Superintendent, Dr. Stephanie Elizalde! We'll wrap up the day with inspiring words from our CEO, Taylor Toynes.

Juneteenth 2024 Volunteer Information
Our volunteers make the festival happen while driving its success and bringing its spirit to life. Their dedication, passion, and hard work make the event possible, assisting with creating life changing experiences for all who attend!
Volunteer Perks:
Volunteer Shifts:
Volunteer Concierge: 8:30am - 12pm
- Set-up Volunteer Check-in area (clipboards, highlighters, waivers, sizing shirts)
- Relieve volunteers for lunch breaks (food area, kids area, registration area,
- Help initiate rolling festival clean-up shifts (issuing out trash can liners)
Shift 1: 9:30am - 1:00pm tasks to include:
- Set-Up: Assist with assembling and placing signage around campus grounds, filling coolers, support event decor team
- Registration: Check in guests and volunteers, line control. concierge
- Food Support: Passing out food to guests, assist with line control of food lines
- Kids Zone: Ensuring all kids have wristbands, ensuring they are being safe,
Shift 2: 12:00pm - 3:30pm
- Relieving Shift 1 volunteers
- Registration: Check in guests and volunteers, line control
- Food Distribution: Passing out food to guests, assist with line control of food lines
- Kids Zone: Ensuring all kids have wristbands, ensuring they are being safe, checking in on zone vendors
-Breakdown: Assisting with clean up. i.e. empty trash cans, keeping grounds clean throughout the event, loading trash bags into dumpster
Farmers Market Support 10:00am - 2:00pm
- help set-up and breakdown
- help pass out produce bags (250 bags, one per family)
- assist vendors as needed
