Heart of Harvest Brunch 2023This Thanksgiving season, we were able to give around 100 of our members the ingredients to create their own thanksgiving feast at our annual Heart of Harvest event. Each member was able to leave with a turkey, a produce bag with fresh fruits and vegetables, and a bag filled with dry goods. We also We also had about 75 volunteers support the event by guiding cars into our Community Campus’ parking lot and handing each car their food. The event was a huge success!

Haunted House 2023This Halloween, we converted our locker room at our community center into a thrilling haunted house experience. Our staff members dressed up and put on their best performances to give our kids and members an absolutely terrifying experience. The evening ended with a pizza party where everyone was vibing. For everyone in attendance, it was an incredible evening full of screams and smiles.

Baddies in Wonderland powered by DTLROur For Oak Cliff and DTLR Juneteenth Festival and Farmers Market created with adidas was a hit! Thanks to DTLR we were able to send 250 families home with produce bags filled with fresh fruits and veggies. The day consisted of a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a food cooking demo, animal education and free zoo tickets provided by the Dallas Zoo. A life size art installation educating the community on the roots of Juneteenth with a surprise visit from Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. The event served over 2000 community members with the help of 140 volunteers.

LENA Baby ShowerWe were able to provide 10 families with the necessities they need to learn successfully at our LENA Baby Shower!

From the 'Cliff to the CapitolFor Oak Cliff had the pleasure of joining Trust for Public Land for a Day on the Hill!
We got to bring 2 of our teen interns with us for a wonderful experience! Sydney & Makayla got a quick lesson in lobbying - visiting several elected officials to ask their support in building 2 beautiful parks in South Oak Cliff! Five Mile Creek & Judge Charles R. Rose Park deserve to be in our backyard. Our students blew EVERYONE away with their stories, charisma, and professionalism. |
For Oak Cliffmas 2022This Holiday season, we are hosted our annual For Oak Cliffmas Skate Party. The livest skate party in the Superblock! This year we gave away 200 toys to our students in our Oak Cliff Community. The night was filled with food, skating and a toy giveaway!

Get out the Vote!We partnered with Texas Organizing Project to encourage our community to show up to the polls. We visited UNT Dallas, Paul Quinn and our own Community Campus and gave out free food to encourage those who were eligible to get out and vote. We were able to help more than 80 people vote on Election Day.

Myles Turner and LEGO!Myles Turner pulled up to For Oak Cliff and blessed our Gaming Lab with an Nintendo Switch, LEGO Brawl, and flat screen TV and gifted each student with a Lego set!

Juneteenth Celebration powered by DTLRWe want to thank everyone that celebrated Juneteenth with us! The event included
family-friendly activities with free food, games, a live DJ, water slide and bounce houses, as well as an on-site job fair, educational activities and a voter registration drive. Also featured a life-size Juneteenth History book outlining a Juneteenth timeline. See more pictures from the event below! |
FOC x UTSW Mental Health EsportsFor Mental Health Awareness Month, we partnered with the Dallas Mavs Gaming to host an Esports experience for youth. The day started with discussion about mental health and gaming led by panelist Dr. Nyaz Didehbani from UT Southwest Medical Center, and Mavs Gaming Head Coach LT Fairley. After the discussion, Esposure led a gaming free play and Rocket League Tournament here in our FOC Gaming Lab.

Film Workshop!For Oak Cliff partnered with the Oak Cliff Film Festival, to host a filmmaking workshop for high school students. Students were provided with an opportunity to learn about a range of film topics, from production, to storytelling, to working hands on with equipment. Students heard from industry experts, like Disney director David Lowery and award-winning filmmaker Nick Brooks. Thank you to our sponsors, Amazon, and the Richards Group.

Yoga in the Hood!On May 7, we hosted our first Yoga in the Hood event sponsored by Dallas Methodist Medical on the field of our Community Campus. The event consisted of a free yoga class taught by For Oak Cliff native yogi, Ebony Smith and multiple vendors were present with healthy food options and resources for the community.

The OG's Mixer!On April 14, the OG's of the Superblock came together to join an evening of mix and mingling, games, and refreshments. The evening started with networking and learning about all the resources and programs that For Oak Cliff has to offer. It then went into friendly competitive games with a FOC merch as the prizes!
Dallas Wings x Hav A Sole x For Oak Cliff: Sneaker GiveawayOn April 9, in partnership with the WNBA powerhouse, Dallas Wings and Hav A Sole, we provided 50 South Oak Cliff middle school and high school students with brand new sneakers. Huge shoutout to WNBA players, Isabelle Harrison and Moriah Jefferson for pouring into our students!
New Court by the Dallas Mavs!On March 28, in dedication of the NBA's 75th anniversary we had a ribbon cutting displaying our remodeled gym! This exclusive experience featured NBA legends, current Dallas Mavericks players, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jalen Brunson, and CEO Cynt Marshall. After the ribbon cutting the Dallas Mavs hosted a kids clinic to officially break in the new court and an awesome festival outside.
MOVIE DAY: The Meteor ManOn Sunday, February 27, we hosted a Black History Month Movie Day at The Texas Theatre. The 1993 classic movie The Meteor Man was shown. The film is about a teacher who discovers that he is a superhero and begins to fight crime in his neighborhood. The Movie Day was an incredibly fun event for the entire family!
Tech Lab UnveilingOn February 16, we unveiled our new Tech Lab sponsored by the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs donated over a dozen laptops, furniture and high speed internet. This lab will provide resources and educational programming for all our members!
